The Election Commission (EC) insists it performed its duty honestly in petitioning the Constitutional Court to consider the qualifications of Future Forward Party (FFP) leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, which led to the court order suspending him as an MP. Today was a ceremony, not a session for MPs to perform their duties," he said before attending the event. He is expected to be sworn in as an MP today, before his duties are suspended. Mr Thanathorn on Thursday questioned whether the EC expedited his case unusually and if there was any political agenda behind the move. It is also probing if Mr Thanathorn violated Section 151 of the MP election law, which prohibits people who already know they are not qualified, from applying for MP candidacy.
